Information About the Program
The Department of Accounting and Finance provides students of Southeastern Oklahoma State University the opportunity to complete academic programs of study in Accounting and Finance. Students of the Finance program prepare themselves for careers in the investments industry or in the financial management of private and public organizations. They gain a solid understanding of financial instruments, such as stocks, bonds, futures, and options, as well as fundamental knowledge important for decisions pertaining to capital budgeting, dividend policy, mergers, public offerings, and more. Successful students acquire knowledge and analytical skills which contribute to their ability to live and work intelligently and successfully in the global society of the twenty-first century. The Finance Program (63 hours) includes a thirty-three hour broad-based Business Core and a thirty hour specialized curriculum in Economics and Finance. Students majoring in Finance are not required to complete a major or minor program in another field.
