Chamber Ensembles
Brass Ensemble
The Brass Ensemble meets in the spring and is open to all University brass players by audition. This ensemble plays music written and transcribed for brass instruments.
Low Brass Ensemble
The SOSU Low Brass Ensemble is a brass ensemble consisting of trombones, euphoniums (baritones) and tubas. It is open to all low brass players and required of low brass majors. The low brass ensemble presents an opportunity for low brass musicians to play brass chamber music in a variety of styles from different musical periods. The ensemble performs regularly each semester on campus and occasionally performs off campus as well.
Woodwind Ensemble
The Woodwind Ensemble is open to all University students by audition. This ensemble plays music written and transcribed specifically for woodwind instruments.
Flute Choir
The Flute Choir performs a varied repertoire ranging from the Baroque to light classics to popular arrangements. Piccolo flute, alto flute, and bass flute are utilized to augment the core ensemble of C-flutes. The Flute Choir presents several concerts throughout the year and is open to all University students.
Chamber Winds
The Chamber Winds meets in the fall to provide a concert setting for those interested. It is open by audition to all University students, but normally is comprised mostly of music majors. This ensemble plays music written for small wind ensembles of 12-16 players.
