Jazz

The SOSU Jazz Combo is a small jazz ensemble consisting of a rhythm section and horns. It is open by audition for those members of the jazz ensemble who wish to participate. The jazz combo provides entertainment for a variety of activities on and off campus, and competes in jazz festivals each spring.

Jazz Ensemble

This year the SOSU Jazz Ensemble is full of new "young lions" eager to show off their talents along with a few "legendary" members sure to show off their chops. The SOSU Jazz Ensemble has a new road of growth ahead but will be filled with an eagerness to learn and an excitement for the only true American art form…jazz.

The SOSU Jazz Ensemble will provide some lunchtime entertainment at the Sneak Preview on October 6, 2007 where prospective students and their parents can catch a quick "peak" of the university and the music program. Our major performance of the semester will be the annual "Struttin" With Some Barbecue” concert on October 15, 2007 at 5:30pm at the campus amphitheatre. We will present a wide array of styles to try and please as many musical tastes as possible, as well as please your taste for B-B-Q as well.

We hope to bring the annual jazz festival back in to town with the help of local businesses and local talent. Hopefully, the community will help us share our love of great music. The SOSU Jazz Ensemble will present a diverse style selection and try our hand at some “heavy hitters” during the spring festival. We hope everyone will come join us.
