Cat 5

CAT 5 is Southeastern’s newest vocal ensemble, started in the 2007-2008 school year. This vocal jazz group undertakes a wide variety of a cappella singing styles from ballads to bebop; from salsa to scat, this versatile ensemble explores it all. CAT 5 also performs with a combo comprised of members of the SOSU Jazz Ensemble, and at times with the full SOSU Jazz Ensemble.

This select ensemble is comprised of 5 singers: two sopranos, alto, tenor, and bass. First preference in selection for this group goes to our vocal music majors. Current members include Cheri Conway, Lone Grove OK, Sarah Hudson, Allen TX, Jocelyn Batts, Ardmore OK, Matt Rizzo, Lone Grove OK, and Weslee Vance, Denton TX.

CAT 5 had the opportunity to be part of our university’s cultural exchange program with China in the Fall of 2007. They performed over a period of 11 days in Lianyungong and Shanghai, China.
