Our Program Mission

The Bachelor of Arts degree program in theatre at Southeastern Oklahoma State University provides students with important facets of our cultural heritage through recreating historical as well as contemporary drama and musical theatre productions.  It also qualifies students for entry into professional companies and graduate programs at other institutions.  Finally it improves the cultural, artistic, extracurricular and academic environment of Southeastern Oklahoma through exposure to live presentations of quality dramatic literature.

Our Belief in Civic Engagement

Theatre at Southeastern believes that we have a responsibility both as an educational entity as well as arts provider to enrich and add to the cultural life of our community.

Theatre at Southeastern believes that many of the Southeastern students of today, will be the cultural and civic leaders of their communities tomorrow.

Therefore, Theatre at Southeastern believes it is as important to train the audience as well as the artist.

Theatre at Southeastern believes we have a special responsibility to the youth of our community by providing programming and enrichment activities to enhance verbal and nonverbal communication skills, self-esteem, and expression of thought and emotion.

Theatre at Southeastern believes that the arts are at the heart of our ability to express the very nature of the human condition.  Therefore theatre can be a superior vehicle for education, entertainment and enlightenment.
