It will be necessary to update all bookmarks that contain links to sosu.edu websites. The Help Desk would encourage everyone to review their bookmarks and make any needed modifications. (Example: If a user has Blackboard bookmarked as http://blackboard.sosu.edu they will need to change it to http://blackboard.se.edu)

It will be necessary to update the email settings for anyone who has a handheld or non-University supported Blackberry setup to receive Southeastern email. Typically the settings on these devices require Incoming/Outgoing mail servers to be identified. These will need to be changed from mail.sosu.edu to mail.se.edu. Also, update your email address in these devices to username@se.edu.

The Help Desk will need to access all University computer systems during the migration period. Please be aware of this as the Help Desk will access all areas as needed. It is policy of the Information Technology Department that Help Desk personnel enter offices as a pair when the occupant of the office is not present to ensure protection of physical and intellectual property. Thank you.

The Help Desk and Network Operations would ask that during the interruption period that you power on your computer and leave it on. It is important that it be powered on during the duration of the interruption period (from May 19th until May 30th). For clarification, it is not necessary that you stay logged into your computer during this time but that the computer simply be turned on. We would again like to extend our appreciation for your assistance during this migration period. Thank you.

The University will experience IT service interruptions during the timeframe extending from May 19th until May 30th. Unfortunately, these IT service interruptions are unavoidable as the Information Technology Department completes a major portion of the migration from SOSU.EDU to SE.EDU. During this scheduled maintenance period, all campus IT services will most likely be interrupted at some point. It is strongly encouraged that the campus community plan for this period of IT systems maintenance with the thought in mind that all IT services will be interrupted. IT services to be effected include: e-mail, internet, file servers, DPS, POISE, Blackboard, student file server, student email, University website, VPN services, and CampusConnect. It is very important to note that not all of the listed IT services will be affected for the entirety of the week. However, it is strongly recommended that the campus community plan for the potential downtime of any listed service for the duration of the maintenance period.
In closing, the entire Information Technology Department would like to express its deepest appreciation for your patience in this matter. Domain migration is a very substantial undertaking, and your support and understanding are vital in the success of this project. Thank you.
