The Residence Hall Director reports to Director of Residence Life in delivering a comprehensive residential program in a system of 800 students living on campus. Responsibilities include selection, training and supervision of student staff; coordinating programming, promoting community development; advising hall council; addressing student conduct; crisis response and management, and overall administration and operations of one or two residence halls consisting of 200 – 500 students. The position requires some evening and weekend responsibilities. This is a live-in, 12 month position.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assists in delivering a comprehensive residential program in a system of 800 students living on campus; responsibilities include selection, training and supervision of resident assistants and desk clerks, and may include supervision of Assistant Hall Director; create and implement a student learning environment focused on student learning/development, advising hall council, addressing student conduct, and crisis response and management; maintain the overall administration and operations of assigned residential facility(s) housing 200-500 students; this includes tracking occupancy, awareness of and compliance with relevant codes, maintaining student contact and student conduct records, limited budgetary oversight, equipment inventories, as well as daily administrative activity; advises residential staff of and ensures that high standards of safety are practiced in accordance with relevant regulations and agency standards; duties may include teaching or co-teaching College Success, ORIE 1002 and/or other credit bearing courses related to Residence Life and/or Student Services; serve on departmental or university-wide committees as requested; this is a live-in position, and requires some evening and weekend work; duties may also include collateral assignments in an area of department-wide concern.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s preferred. Higher Education experience required. Residence life or related experience preferred. Demonstrated analytical, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to diversity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse persons. Knowledge of student development and student learning models required. Must meet physical demand of position, which includes ability to move through 8-story building without use of an elevator. Must agree to criminal background check. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
