The M. Ed. Writing Sample & Comprehensive Examination
Writing Sample
Students must complete a Writing Sample before Admission to Candidacy for the Master of Education Degree. The Writing Sample requires the student to write a response of at least 200 words to a prompt dealing with a common public school issue or a current event.
Comprehensive Examination Requirements
Candidates for the Master of Education Degree must perform satisfactorily on a Comprehensive Examination administered after completion of all but nine hours of their degree program requirements. Further, candidates must have completed at least nine hours in a specialty area of study before taking the Comprehensive Examination.
Future administrations of the Writing Sample and the Comprehensive Examination:
- Spring 2008: Saturday, March 1, 2008, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p. m.
- Summer 2008: Thursday, June 26, 2008, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p. m.
- Fall 2008: Friday, October 25, 2008, 8:30 p.m. – 12:30 p. m.
