APA Style Guidelines

Manuscript submissions to JBE must strictly adhere to APA style as described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th Edition.  Manuscripts not submitted in APA style will not be reviewed.  The guidelines provided here are by no means exhaustive; authors must refer to the Publication Manual to ensure that their manuscripts follow APA style.

Headings

Main headings should be centered and in bold upper case letters. Example:

DEMANDS IN TODAY'S BUSINESS

Secondary headings should be in title case, italicized, and left justified. Example:

Profitability for Investors Only

Paragraph headings should be in title case, indented, italicized, underlined, and punctuated with a period. Example:

Japanese Culture. The Japanese culture differs.... (The text follows directly.)

Graphics

All graphics must be used and discussed in the manuscript. Place all graphics in order at the end of the manuscript (tables first, then figures). Indicate in the body of the manuscript where graphics should appear as follows:

----- Insert Table 1 here -----

All graphics must be clearly titled, readable and camera ready. Provide clear labels and identify axes concisely. Where appropriate, cite sources immediately below the graphic.

Tables

Tables must be in Microsoft Word format.  Place each table on a separate page. Whenever possible, use tables that can appear vertical on the page. Number tables in sequence as they appear in the text (Table 1, Table 2, etc.). Place a period after the table number, followed by the title of the table in bold title case. Left justify the number of the table and its title at the top of the table. Example:

Table 1. Sample of Comparison

  Responses Uniqueness
Group 1 538 .64
Group 2 626 .29

Figures

Figures (all graphics other than tables) should be numbered in sequence as they appear in the text (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.). Figure numbers and titles follow the same format as tables. Example:

Figure 1. Business Division Sales Comparisons
