Technical Details and Software
The Laptops are Dell Latitude D820s and have an Intel(R) CPU 1.66GHGz processor, 80 GB hard drive, 1 GB of
RAM, DVD drive bay, Windows XP as the operating system, they also have Microsoft Office 2003
Access, Excel, InfoPath, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher, and Word, plus Internet access.
They also have a touchpad mouse.
Checkout Policy
- Laptops will be circulated to current students, faculty, and staff with a
valid SE ID.
- Checkout is on a first come first come serve basis.
- Load period is for four hours
- Laptops cannot be removed from the library, since laptops will not work outside of the library
- Laptops must be returned thirty minutes before library closing.
- Borrowers must accept responsibility for loss or damage by signing a laptop loan agreement.
Fines and Liability
- The borrower is responsible for any loss or damage to the laptop.
- A replacement change of up to $1200.00 may be charged for loss or damage.
- Contact the Circulation department at 745-2168 for questions.
Hints for laptop use
- It is important to save your work to media of your control prior to checking in the laptop.
- The laptop will print to the Computer Lab printer on the Library First Floor.
- Do not move the laptop unless it is turned off and placed in its collapsed or folded position.
- Do not plug or unplug an external device such as a mouse unless the computer
and the external are turned off, unless it is a USB device.
- Do not expose the laptop to any magnetic fields that could damage the contents of the hard disk.
- Neither the Library or computer services department are responsible for files remaining on the disk
once the laptop is returned by the user or for any loss of or damage to a user's files as a consequence
of use of the laptop.
- Report technical problems immediately.
- Do not leave laptop computers or any other personal property unattended in the library. The library is not responsible
for lost or stolen laptops.
- Questions regarding the lending services of the laptops should be directed to the Circulation desk.
