The Why Files
The Why Files is a useful resource to help students
learn about science by using news and current events as a springboard to
explore science and the larger issues it raises, and to explain the process,
culture and people that shape it. The Why Files removes the mystery
from science -- but not the excitement. To help students use our growing resource,
and to help teachers integrate our content into lesson plans and curricula
geared to the National Science Education Standards, we have linked our content
to specific standards. Sprinkled through our archive are interactive quizzes
and hands-on projects that can add depth to students' understanding of the
scientific enterprise.
