This is a great site for genealogists. It contains links to 124
databases and other genealogical links. It has a name search engine, which searches
52 million names.

- American Civil War Research Database
This database is being developed by Historical Data Systems, and it is an
attempt to put in one database information about every soldier that fought in the Civil War.
With a database of this magnitude historians can do statistical and analytical analysis of
the war. Right now the database contains over 2 million soldiers records, over 2000
Civil war regimental rosters, over 2000 regimental chronicles, over 1000 officer profiles,
over 1000 Civil War soldier photographs, and over 3000 civil war battle synopses. To use
this database you have to subscribe. The subscription cost is 25.00 per year.
- USGenWeb Project
The USGenWeb project began in Kentucky in the spring of 1996. The
goal of the project was to provide a single entry point for genealogy data
and research for all counties in Kentucky, which was accomplished by summer
of 1996. Then the project was expanded to include the entire United States,
with the goal of creating genealogy sites for all counties in the United
States.
- Ellis Island Passenger Arrivals
While this site has been around for a while, it opened a brand
new resource a couple of months ago. You can now enter the name of an
ancestor and, if the ancestor came through Alas Island, you can access his
or her records in some detail.

RootsWeb also provides space for homepages for genealogical and historical
societies, and maintains an archive of downloadable files,
and maintains space for more than 3,600 mailing lists. Although some
services are available free of charge, most services are available for paid
subscribers.
