"The inaugral gallery for Historical Voices, Earliest Voices is a multimedia site presenting some of the most significant voices captured during the first fifty years of sound recording, 1877-1927. The late nineteenth to early twentieth century was a period of tremendous technological progress, and politicians and orators quickly took advantage of these innovations. In 1888, Thomas Alva Edison, inventor of the phonograph, delivered a heady proclamation. He declared that sound-recording would ensure that the words of statesmen could be "multiplied a thousand-fold" and "be transmitted to prosperity, centuries afterwards, as freshly and forcibly as if those later generations heard his living accents." Nearly a century after the recordings of prominent speeches from this period were made, this gallery perhaps sees the culmination of Edison's vision."

"This selection of nineteen "Headquarters Films (HQ)" preserved in the National Archives, represents a series of over 250 titles collected by the NASA Office of Public Affairs between 1962 and 1981. They were produced using footage from the various NASA research facilities and space flight centers around the country. "The On-Line Books Page was founded in 1993 by John Mark Ockerbloom at Carnegie Mellon University . He is now a digital library planner and researcher at the University of Pennsylvania. He remains the editor of the pages, and gladly accepts suggestions for new listings." It contains about 13,000 e-books that are non copyrighted or the author  has given permission for a copyrighted book to be put online. It also contains online serials, such as newspapers, journals, and magazines. Many of these serials are old, such as Harpers Monthly (1850-1899), and the North American Review (1815-1900). There is also an archives page which contains links to other online documents and e-books in such areas as:  children's literature, black writers, computers, dissertations, economics, history, literary, military,  music and dance, poetry,  politics, government and law, religion, science, social science and math, science fiction, horror, fantasy, and women.
