Southeastern Names Holly Fred As Rodeo Coach

Southeastern Oklahoma State University has announced the hiring of Holly Fred as Director of the Equestrian Center, Instructor and Coach of the rodeo team. She will assume her new duties August 1.
Fred earned a bachelor’s degree in business education with an emphasis in accounting from the University of Nebraska in 1996 and attended classes toward a master’s degree at Chadron State College in 2002.
“We are delighted that Holly Fred has accepted this position at the University,” said Southeastern president Dr. Glen D. Johnson. “Her background and experience provide her with the expertise needed to ensure the continued success enjoyed by the equestrian program at Southeastern. The University has achieved national recognition for its equestrian program, and we expect Holly to build upon this outstanding tradition.”
Fred has a solid background in teaching, accounting, and marketing. She has served as the Nebraska State High School Barrel Racing director and Event Director of the Northwest Ranch Cowboys and the Mid States Rodeo Associations.
She attended school on a rodeo scholarship and earned the “Workhorse Award” in 1993 for hardest-working rodeo club member at Nebraska. After graduation, she continued to compete in various rodeo associations. Fred has been involved in Internet sales for the Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Sales Commission. Company in Salina, Kansas. She has also served as Professional Development Program assistant with Western Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education in Torrington, Wyoming.
Fred grew up on a registered cattle ranch in Nebraska and always had a share of the chores from working cattle to fixing fences. She showed horses and cattle in 4-H and went on to rodeo in high school and college.
She earned academic, volleyball, track, and rodeo scholarships at Nebraska. Also at UN, she captained the rodeo team and functioned as coach much of the time, handling the organization of practice and travel arrangements, selecting the points team and entering the team in various competitions.
Fred has been the owner/editor of the Midwest Arena News in Abilene, Kansas since December 2003, handling all aspects of the newspaper business, from advertising sales and design to writing, editing, and marketing.
