Southeastern To Offer Assistance To Students Affected By Hurricane Katrina

Southeastern Oklahoma State University is working to assist students who may be re–locating due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina. The University will implement the following procedures:

Admission and Enrollment Considerations

Based on directives from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Southeastern will be as lenient as possible and work to do what is best for students who are relocating to Oklahoma due to Hurricane Katrina.

Financial Aid Considerations

Southeastern will waive all out–of–state tuition for non–Oklahoma residents for the Fall 2005 semester. Residents of Oklahoma who are currently students at Universities affected by Hurricane Katrina will be eligible for in–state fee waivers.

Housing

Rooms are available at Southeastern.

Fundraising

A number of activities are underway, with proceeds going to the American Red Cross. The following SOSU groups–organizations are involved in fundraising:

  • Student Government Association
  • President’s Leadership Class
  • Cheerleaders & Student Athlete Advisory Committee
  • Residence Hall Association
  • SOSU Staff Association

The campus is also participating in community fundraising efforts with the SOSU Alumni Association and businesses in the area.
