SOSU Celebrates Holiday Season with Candlelighting and Concert
November 22, 2006
Southeastern Oklahoma State University will celebrate the holiday season with Candlelighting 2006.
In keeping with tradition, the 85th Candlelighting and Concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in Montgomery Auditorium on the SOSU campus. The event is free and open to the public.
This year’s concert will feature the Southeastern Symphonic Choir performing Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Christmas Cantata Hodie (This Day), under the direction of Dr. Stacy Weger.
The SOSU Brass Ensemble, SOSU percussionists, and string players from the University of North Texas will accompany the choir. Featured vocalists include Kristen Mata, Dr. Steven Emge and Jeremy Blackwood.
Theatre at Southeastern dancers, directed by Riley Risso, will perform to highlight the concert opening.
The Candlelight event this year is designed to reflect the festive nature of the season and serves as a great way to start holiday celebrations. Cardinal Key and Blue Key Honor Societies will once again serve as acolytes in the candle-lighting portion of the evening.
Everyone is invited to share the music of the season at Candlelighting 2006. For more information, phone 580–745–2088.
