SOSU Freshman Convocation set for Aug. 13

Press Release Date: 08-04-2006

Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Freshman Convocation has been scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, as part of “Move-in Day.”

The Convocation is the official welcoming ceremony for all new freshmen and their families and will be held in Morrison Hall’s Montgomery Auditorium on SOSU’s main campus. A free cookout on the front lawn is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. for all freshmen, their families and guests.

“The decision to make the sacrifices required to pursue an advanced degree is one of the most significant ones a person can make,” said Tim Boatmun, Director of the Advising and Outreach Center at Southeastern. “The purpose of Freshman Convocation is to celebrate that decision and welcome students and their families into the SOSU community.”

Those persons planning to attend should RSVP to the Advising and Outreach Center at 580-745-2370 or e-mail advising@sosu.edu.

If you have a participant with special needs, please notify the Office of Student Support Services at 580-745-2254 as soon as possible before the event so that all reasonable accommodations can be made.
