Southeastern Oklahoma State University has announced the hiring of Mattie McClenny as the Coordinator of the Southeastern at Grayson Program.

In this position, she will serve as Southeastern’s on-site representative and also work as a SOSU admissions counselor for the north Texas area.

McClenny received her Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Business at Henderson State (Ark.) University and will graduate from SOSU in May with her Master’s in School Counseling. McClenny has been at GCC the last five years as a coordinator/admissions counselor. She also has six years of teaching experience in Arkansas high schools.

Grayson County College has approximately 300 education majors and this program gives students the opportunity to earn four-year degrees in Elementary Education while attending classes at GCC. The courses are taught on-site at Grayson by SOSU instructors and adjunct instructors.

The unique Southeastern at Grayson program began in the fall of 2005. This collaborative effort received approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the Grayson County College Board of Trustees, the Regional University System of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

Grayson College is Southeastern’s No. 1 feeder school and this new position will assist in growing the connection between the two institutions.

“Mattie McClenny will be a valuable addition to the Southeastern at Grayson program,” said Dr. Douglas McMillan, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at SOSU. “We are pleased with the progress of the program and are excited about its future potential and the positive impact it will have on students. Southeastern Oklahoma State University is also proud to partner with Grayson County College as we continue to work together in the best interest of our students.”
