Southeastern Homecoming Scheduled for October 13-14, 2006
Press Release Date: 09-01-2006
The ribbon-cutting and dedication of the new $14.3 million Student Union Building will be featured prominently in Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s celebration of Homecoming 2006 Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13-14.
The new Student Union building dedication is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, and everyone is invited to come out for this historic occasion.
This year’s Gold and Blue! extravaganza—an alumni association fundraiser—will be held on Friday night instead of following Saturday’s Homecoming football game.
Friday’s activities begin with the always popular Whang Bang Golf Tournament. Registration is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and a shotgun start is set for 9:30.
The 2006 Whang Bang will be played at Silverado Golf Course and the entry fee is $80 per player.
In addition to the golf tournament and Gold and Blue!, other traditional Friday events include the Houston Debate Reception and the Bonfire/Pep Rally.
Saturday kicks off with the Former Athletes’ Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the lobby of Bloomer Sullivan Gym.
That will be followed by a reception for the Distinguished Alumni, the Lawn Parade, the new Student Union Ribbon Cutting and Dedication, all school receptions, and the Homecoming Luncheon, honoring Distinguished Alumni, Distinguished Former Faculty members, Heritage Award recipient, and the Benefactor Award recipient.
The Distinguished Alumni will be presented at 2 p.m. in pre-game ceremonies of the football game between the Savage Storm and Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
The coronation of the Homecoming Court is scheduled for half-time of the game. Greek reunions and Savage Storm Grill (formerly known as the Reunion Barbecue) will follow the football contest.
