University of Oklahoma Marching Band to Perform at Southeastern Prior to Texas–OU Game

The University of Oklahoma’s Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band will be making one stop en route to the Red River Shootout in Dallas—that being a stop over at Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Friday, Oct. 6 for a performance at Paul Laird Field.

The following day at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, the band will be performing at half-time of the OU-Texas football game.

The Pride of Oklahoma Band will tune-up for that when it stops in Durant on Friday, Oct. 6 for a 10:00 a.m. exhibition performance at Paul Laird Field. The event is scheduled to last until approximately 11:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend and there is no admission charge.

The OU Band show will feature selections from “The Quest,” and will include “Robin Hood,” “The Mask of Zorro” and “The Chronicles of Narnia.”

“We are delighted to have The Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band performing on our campus,” said Southeastern President Dr. Glen D. Johnson. “This is a great opportunity for our University and community.”

The 304-member Pride of Oklahoma Band is under the direction of Brian A. Britt, Assistant Director of the School of Music, and Associate Director of Bands. He guides all aspects of the Pride. including recruiting, teaching, charting drill, selecting shows, and administrative duties. Britt, a Durant native, is the son of Dr. Walter Britt (retired Chair of the SOSU Department of Music) and Pat Britt (former GEAR Up partnership coordinator at SOSU and longtime Durant Public Schools teacher).
