SOSU names Shade Director of Alumni Relations & Special Events

Stephanie Shade has been named Director of Alumni Relations and Special Events at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. A 1991 graduate of Southeastern, Shade has served as Director of Special Events at SOSU for the past two years.

In this new position, Shade reports to the President and is primarily responsible for developing a plan of operation for the Alumni Association, based upon goals and objectives set by the University President and Board of Directors of the Alumni Association, as well as overseeing the planning, implementation, and logistical support for all Alumni Relations events. The Director will also be responsible for overseeing event support for University functions, special events and programs conducted on behalf of the University.

In addition, Laura Benedict has been named Coordinator for Alumni Relations. Benedict currently works in the Office of the President as the Information Systems Technician, and she is a 1999 graduate of East Central University.

The Coordinator for Alumni Relations reports to the Director of Alumni Relations and Special Events. Her duties include assisting the Director in the coordination of all Alumni programs, fundraising, events, and chapter development, as well as serving as the main point of contact for external constituents to upgrade their information in order to maintain an accurate alumni database.

“We look forward to working with Stephanie and Laura in these new roles,” said SOSU Interim President Jesse Snowden. “The involvement and support of our alumni is a critical component to the overall success of the University.” The Office of Alumni Relations and Special Events is housed in the Southeastern Welcome Center.
