Southeastern Homecoming and Parents’ Day Scheduled for October 26-27, 2007

A full schedule of events begins with the Student Homecoming Dance at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 in the old Student Union Ballroom and ends with the Gold and Blue (Alumni endowed scholarship event) held at Bella Vista on the Boulevard at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Friday at the Durant Country Club for the popular Whang Bang Alumni Golf Tournament. A shotgun start is scheduled for 10 a.m. The Whang Bang has become one of the more popular Homecoming events and annually attracts old (and young) grads from around the country. It will be followed by the Alumni BBQ at 5 p.m. at the country club.

A bonfire and pep rally at 8:30 p.m. in the amphitheater concludes Friday’s schedule.

Saturday opens with the Former Athletes’ Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the lobby of Bloomer Sullivan Gym. The President’s Coffee honors the Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Former Faculty at 9 a.m. and the on-campus Homecoming Parade is slated for 10:30 a.m.

At 11 a.m., the Alumni Homecoming Awards Luncheon will be held in the Old Student Union Ballroom. At this time, the 2007 Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Former Faculty recipients will be honored.

The afternoon highlight features coach Ray Richards’ Savage Storm hosting the Midwestern University Mustangs at 2:30 p.m. at Paul Laird Field. Pre-game activities start at 2 p.m. and include on-field introduction of the Distinguished Alumni.

Homecoming 2007 closes with the Gold and Blue (Alumni endowed scholarship event), set for 7 p.m. at Bella Vista on the Boulevard.

Alumni Association president Jane Umsted said, “We’re very excited about the Homecoming weekend and all of the events we have planned for our returning graduates. We encourage everybody to attend, enjoy the activities, renew old memories and make new ones.”
