Sharla Frost to Address SOSU Graduates on May 12

Attorney Sharla Frost will offer remarks at Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s 2007 Spring Commencement. Ms. Frost, a 1984 graduate of Southeastern, is a founding partner and member of the litigation section of Powers & Frost, LLP, based in Houston, Texas. She currently serves as the managing partner of the firm.

Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007. The time and location will depend upon the weather. Weather permitting, commencement will be held in one ceremony at 9 a.m. at Paul Laird Field.

A reception honoring graduates and their families will be held in the Visual and Performing Arts Center from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 PM

In the event of inclement weather, commencement will be held in the Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium. Since seating is limited in the gymnasium, there will be two ceremonies by degrees:

  • 10:00 a.m.–11:00 PM—School of Education & Behavioral Sciences, Master of Behavioral Studies, Master of Education
  • 1:00 p.m–2:00 PM—School of Arts and Sciences, John Massey School of Business Master of Business Administration, Master of Science, Master of Technology

Ms. Frost was honored as a Distinguished Alumni of Southeastern in 2004 and is a member of the SOSU Alumni Board of Directors. She received her Bachelor’s of Arts in English and Speech Communication from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and her J.D. from Baylor Law School in 1987.

Ms. Frost was recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer by “Texas Monthly” magazine in 2005 and 2006.

Ms. Frost focuses her practice on products liability and mass tort litigation, including toxic exposure, pharmaceutical product, medical device and industrial product allegations for Fortune 50 and 100 companies across the United States. She has served as local, regional and national counsel for a variety of clients and is a member of the national trial team for several others. She is licensed in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, West Virginia and Mississippi. She has appeared as first chair trial counsel throughout Texas, as well as in California, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Oklahoma and Washington.

Ms. Frost is a frequent speaker on litigation related topics, including the development and presentation of expert witnesses; the presentation of persuasive opening statements in products liability cases; and, jury selection in problem jurisdictions. She was an invited participant in the DRI Preeminent Trial Lawyer Seminar in September 2005, at which the top rated speakers from the previous three years of DRI presentations were invited to participate in an intensive trial training seminar for experienced litigators.
