Matt Thomas named SID at Southeastern

Matt Thomas has been named Sports Information Director at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Thomas earned his Bachelor’s of Arts in Communication at SOSU in 2004 and has completed his Master’s of Education in Sport Administration at Wichita (Kansas) State University.

"We are pleased that Matt Thomas has joined our athletics family," said Interim Director of Athletics Cherrie Wilmoth. "With his knowledge and experience in sports information and athletics, he will be a valuable addition to our department."

Thomas served as a student worker in sports information at Southeastern under SID Dave Wester, then spent one year as Wester’s full-time assistant at Angelo (Texas) State University.

Thomas worked as a graduate assistant at Wichita State University while completing his master’s degree. He has gained valuable experience in media relations at various collegiate levels. He served as an intern with Fox Sports Southwest in Dallas, Texas, as well as working the 2004 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championships in Tulsa and the 2004 Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament in Wichita.

"I’m excited to be coming back to Southeastern," Thomas said. "I’m an alumnus of the University and really anxious to get started. This is an opportunity to give back to the University that kind of set me on my life track."
