DURANT, Okla. ­ The Southeastern Oklahoma State University Musical Arts Series will present a special program in the Steger International Artist Series honoring the life of noted philanthropist and arts patron, Wanda L. Bass. Mrs. Bass was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of fame in 1998. Her husband Clark received this honor in 1995. She is remembered for her generosity in promoting projects in the arts throughout the state.

Wanda and Clark Bass began their married life in Durant. They were close personal friends of Ruth and Virge Steger, and remained so for over half a century. This friendship was commemorated by the establishment of the Bass Lectureship in Music in 2006, designed to partner with the Steger International Artist Series, which brings internationally acclaimed performers to the Southeastern Oklahoma State University for concerts and masterclasses. attended by students, faculty and general audience from throughout the area.

The SOSU Musical Arts Series is pleased to Honor Mrs. Bass with the presentation of the Destefano-Barboro Duo for Cello and Piano in concert on March 6 at 7:30 in the SOSU Fine Arts recital Hall.

Mr. Destefano is a graduate of the Conservatory of Turin, Italy and the Hochschule in Dusseldorf, Germany. Mr. Barboro is a graduate of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy. The duo has recorded and toured extensively in Europe and North America.

The concert is funded in part by a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council. The use of the Steinway concert grand is made possible by a gift from Mrs. Marilyn Comer.
