Work by SOSU Professor James Wintle to be Featured at NACUSA National Convention
April 28, 2008

A work by SOSU Professor and composer James Wintle will be featured at the National Convention of the National Association of Composers USA. The concert will be held May 20, 2008 at the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts in Richardson/Dallas. Texas.
Wintle's composition, "Five Pieces for Two Pianos" will be performed by the Long Piano Duo, featured performers for the convention. This piece has been performed by the Long Duo on several occasions including a concert at the Wuhan Conservatory in Wuhan, China and at the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C. Christina and Beatrice Long were winners of the First Prize in the Ellis Duo Piano Competition in 1997, sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs and they were featured performers at the opening of the Murchison Center for the Performing Arts at the University of North Texas.
Wintle commented, "I am most pleased to have my work performed at the NACUSA National Convention. An audience of composers is always an interesting experience. Certainly I am fortunate to have my music performed by such talented artists. I have known these pianists for many years and appreciate their work very much."
Dr. Wintle's works appear on CD's by John Holt, Christopher Gekker, James Giles and the Walden Piano Quartet on the Albany and Crystal labels. He has appeared as guest composer in many US schools including Yale University, UCLA and University of Maryland, and at the Chopin Academy in Warsaw, The Seville Conservatory, and the Central Conservatory in Beijing.
