Haskell County
Nicknamed “the land between the lakes”, Haskell County lies between Lake Eufaula and Robert S. Kerr Lake, Stigler, the county seat, is know for its rich Indian heritage. Surrounded by rolling, wooded hills and vast ranch lands, the area is a paradise for hunting, fishing hiking, bird–watching and photography.

Annual Boat Races at John Wells Lake in August is where boats of every shape, size, and color convene.

The Haskell County Historical Society Museum in Stigler is where you can uncover some interesting history.
The Brier Creek Golf Course is a an enjoyable place for golfers.
The Sans Bois Mountains are located south of Quinton on State Highway 2 and provide wonderful scenery.
Tuckers Knob is a prominent mountain that was the site of General Tucker’s encampment during an Indian War.
Home of Green McCurtain in the historic home of a former Choctaw Chief and Territorial Governor north of Kinta.
Iron Bridge, formerly known as Whiskey Trail Crossing, site of a famous Civil War battle, is located east of Stigler.
Tamaha, Choctaw for “town” was the “jumping off” place for outlaws traveling up the Arkansas River. It was also the place where Choctaw Indians were brought from Mississippi via the Arkansas River, as as part of the Choctaw Trail of Tears.
Kinta, Choctaw for “beaver,” is the site of the first territorial bank in the area and where the early Army Remount Procurement Station where mules were procured and shipped.
