Marshall County

Marshall County, the smallest county in the state of Oklahoma was created at statehood from Pickens County in the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory and was settled by the Chickasaws beginning in 1837 with the removal from their Eastern homes. The county was given the maiden name of the mother George A. Henshaw, a member of the Constitutional Convention. Marshall County borders the Texas state line in southern Oklahoma.
