Selection of Students
The high school administration, counselors, teaching staff, and Project IMPACT instructors will assist with the selection of interested, qualified students.
Students will be selected for participation based on the following criteria:
- Identified as Native American on the official School Accreditation Reports and/or a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma or other federally-recognized American Indian Tribe
- Grade point average of 2.0 or higher
- High attendance rates
- Evidence of interest in math, science, or computing as reported on teacher recommendation form
- Recommended by high school staff (via recommendation form) as a student capable of self-directing, as this skill is critical to succeeding in on-line classes
- Junior or Senior
NOTE: Students will be placed on a list by number of criteria filled. Enrollment will be filled according to the list. It has been the University’s experience in the past that students participating in online work usually perform better if they are highly self-motivated.
