BIOL 3614 (Human Physiology) – Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Study of the functions of the human organ systems. The biochemical and metabolic processes involved in homeostasis are examined at the cellular, histological, and organ system levels. Laboratory required. Prerequisite – BIOL 1404 (Principles of Biology I). Required course for Biological Health Sciences option students and pre-nursing students. BIOL 3624 (Human Anatomy) - Fall, Spring, and Summer Semesters. A study of the structure of
the human body at the developmental, cellular, histological, and systemic levels. With Laboratory. Prerequisite-
BIOL 4423 (Developmental Biology) – Spring semester, odd years. Study of the processes and events involved in differentiation and development from gametogenesis through the embryonic and fetal periods. Also included are developmental disorders and malformations. The human is used as the primary model organism. Prerequisite or corequisite – BIOL 3624 (Human Anatomy). Recommended elective for Biological Health Sciences option students and pre-nursing students. BIOL 4434 (Histology) – Spring, even years. Study of the primary tissues and the cellular and tissue morphology of the human organ systems. Histological alterations in disease states are also examined. Laboratory required. Prerequisite or corequisite – BIOL 3624 (Human Anatomy). Recommended elective for Biological Health Sciences students. BIOL 4653 (Human Disease) -- Fall semester. The study of diagnostic techniques, basic disease processes, and the pathophysiology of the major organ related diseases. Prerequisites -- BIOL 2114 (Microbiology), BIOL 3614 (Human Physiology). Recommended elective for Biological Health Sciences option students and pre-nursing students.
