The first item of business was to review two graduate appeals. Ms. Janet Branton was requesting retro-active admission to a second masters degree. Her letter of appeal provided a rationale. A motion by Connie Taylor, seconded by Jim Britton, passed unanimously to approve her admission to a second master's degree. Karen E. Quails submitted an appeal requesting credit earned prior to admission be accepted on a master's degree. A motion by Connie Taylor, seconded by Jim Britton, passed unanimously.

The second item of business was to approve graduate faculty nominations for the category of Temporary Graduate Faculty for the Spring 1996 semester and one Associate Graduate Faculty member. A motion by Molly Risso, seconded by Jack Testerman, passed unanimously.

The third item of business was to review a program modification request for the Master of Administrative Studies Program. Dean Masters appeared before the Committee to respond to questions and brief the Committee about the desired modification. A motion by Molly Risso, seconded by Jack Testerman, passed unanimously to submit the program modification to the Academic Council.

The next item of business was new course requests for four courses, seven course revisions, and twelve course deletions. After a brief discussion, a motion was made and seconded, and it passed unanimously. During these discussions, it was noted that BIM 5773, Principle-Centered Leadership, was similar to TECH 5213, Individual Productivity in Technology. Dean Masters responded by indicating that he and Dean Bostic have discussed this course and will try to offer the courses in alternate years and are receptive to future cross listing of the two courses.

The last item of business was a brief discussion about catalog size. The Graduate Council generally thought that the dimensions of the current graduate catalog are appropriate and do not recommend changes when the catalog is updated.

In an item of new business, one faculty member raised a question about ways to increase the science hours in the current Master of Technology program.

The meeting adjourned at 4:05 p.m.
